  1. I have to admit that, as a pentecostal, worship time does seem to be hyped up and depends on how well the team is playing or who is leading the worship time. I have always had convictions about some of the worship songs that seem to be engulfed around how we feel instead of who God is. I even mentioned it to our pastor a number of years ago which he agreed.

  2. Hi Warren, thankful you listened. Always ask whether your worship is appropriate for coming before a holy God. Worship leaders often push unbiblical practices upon the people, and the people blindly tolerate it. Glad you are thinking through these issues. Let me know how I can help.

  3. I think you have summed it up "coming before a holy God". I feel at times a loosey goosey format of church and worship is dishonoring to God. I think it comes down to taking God's grace for granted. Heb.10:31 says "it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God". I think this is the respect we need to hold fast to! Thanks for your comments. I enjoy listening to you on KARI radio.

  4. Coming out of the world of "Jesus " rock and being a child of the "60's and of the Jesus People ,I can relate to the emotion driven manipulative charismatic worship scene - I was for also short period of time an attendee in the Assemblies of God Church so I have a minute comprehension of "pressure to feel the Spirit "- when the band played at Calvary Chapel Coasta Mesa there was pressure on the congregation to perform various exercises like "clap your hands" and "feel the Spirit"- all emotion driven and not much of the meat and drink of the living Word ( although Chuck Smith was an interesting Bible teacher - Pastor Mark is an amazing guy and a mighty soldier of the Lord - I can still hear some of his heritage in his experiential preaching - Mike

  6. We went to the ctk church in bham for 4 years. They are not preaching against homosexuality, abortion or much else. We attended regularly. In 4 years the pastor mentioned hell 1 time. You sit in theater seats, there's no bibles. The wall behind the stage is painted black, they have fog machines. The high school youth leader is tatooed. They are learning no bible are daughter said he he doean't want it to be like church, who is he kidding!, church isn't even church. They show clips of t.v shows on the screen a superbowl commercial who are lead pastor said he loves! One sunday the guy next to me was on his blackberry during the whole service looking at real estate. Girls wear short shorts, men leave on their baseball caps.People showcase their tattoos. One Sunday the pastor asked the church if they liked lady gaga or bob dylan better. He doesn't preach against secular music no matter how evil. The sermons are from a series which every ctk uses. He doesn't come up with his own.I'm scared for the people there, I don't think they even know they are headed for HELL! People come late every sunday and leave early. I could go on and on and on. We couldn't take it any more. This popular pastor is going to have ALOT of blood on his hands. This is a Rick Warren purpose driven church. The bible says come out of her my people lest ye share in her sins.
